Dr. Haroon Mehmood is an Assistant Professor at National University of
Computer and Emerging sciences. Haroon’s educational background is in
Computer Science. He had been a Virtual University of Pakistan BS
(Computer Science) student (Sep 2002 - Sep 2006) and achieved CGPA:
3.91/4.0 with Degree Project "Courier Management System" and was awarded
with Gold medal in Bachelors degree. He explains that the Virtual
University strengthened his determination and enabled him to consider
careers such as a researcher and instructor in an academic institution
or a quantitative researcher in the industry field on his own. He got a
chance to study in Italy on scholarship on the basis of his excellent
results in VU. So he moved to Italy and done his MS (Computer
Engineering) Sep 2008 - Nov 2010 from Politecnico di Torino, Italy,
scored 110/110 as final result with Final Thesis, "Validation Issues in
Federated Identity Management Model". Moreover he completed his PhD (Jan
2011 - Feb 2014) from EDA Group, Dept. of Control and Computer
Engineering Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy with Research area
"Multi-criteria optimization for energy-efficient multi-core
systems-on-chip"
He adds that his habit of self studying and familiarity with online
education system made him able to Achieve Fully funded HEC scholarship
for MS leading to PhD, Top score of 110/110 in Masters degree (according
to Italian degree system). He explains these events and his interest in
computer markets were his motivation to pursue a PhD in computer
engineering. He shared that he wanted to study and research several
aspects of embedded system design with particular emphasis on the design
and modeling of reliable and power-efficient solutions. Moreover, he was
interested in the analyses of how the various combinations and styles of
memory and communication affect the real-time computation capability,
reliability and its associated power consumption and propose new
architectures and techniques to reduce overall aging and energy
requirements of embedded systems.
Dr. Haroon Mehmood is grateful to the Virtual University of Pakistan for
uprooting him as an achiever and he believes that if you have will only
then you can win because the difference between a successful person and
others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather
lack of will.
