ANOTHER MILESTONE IN THE FIELD OF ACADEMICS IN SIALKOT


8TH VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY CONVOCATION

Virtual University of Pakistan commemorated 8th convocation at Sialkot to facilitate its students from north-east of Punjab at Golf View Hall, Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Road in Sialkot Cantt.

A total of 740 students were conferred degrees for the successful completion of various graduate degree programs. Gold medal and merit certificates were also awarded to outstanding graduates. Degrees were conferred to the graduates by the chief guest Mr. Khawar Anwar Khawaja, Chief Executive Officer, Grays of Cambridge (Pakistan) Limited along with Dr. Naveed A. Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan.

Dr. Malik in his welcome address mentioned that it was first time a renowned and successful industrialist was invited as Chief Guest to Virtual University Convocation. Mr. Khawar Anwar Khawaja also was the Chairman for Sialkot Dry Port, Chairman Chamber of Commerce Sialkot and Chairman Sialkot International Airport. He added that VU has emerged as one of the finest academic institutions in Pakistan renowned for its academic excellence. He added that all over the world there is a strong collaboration between universities and industry for several reasons. In the competitive world if companies want to ensure good economic performance they have to produce innovative products, meet customer needs and respond quickly to the market. But as companies do not necessarily have all the competencies to perform every operation in house. In the recent years many organizations have established collaborations with centers of knowledge like universities. This will give birth to scientific ideas and new innovations. He highlighted the excellence in education by VU which reflects the strength of the university to build a bright future of students and the nation.

In the end, he thanked all the participants and congratulated all graduating students on their success and their parents for making it possible. Alumni, parents, teachers, prominent personalities from academia and industry attended the event.
